New Publications

Funding Opportunities 

  • The American Heart Association, in partnership with RWJF, has released the Childhood Obesity Rapid Response Fund to support grants that can impact advocacy and policy. The mission of these grants is to make effective strategic investments in ongoing state and local campaigns in order to increase public policy impact on healthy weight and living among children. 
  • The NCI, NHLBI, NICHD, OBSSR, and CDC have released a funding opportunity titled School Nutrition and Physical Activity Policies, Obesogenic Behaviors and Weight Outcomes. Grant applications are encouraged that propose to: (1) foster multidisciplinary research that will evaluate how policies (federal, state and school district levels) can influence school physical activity and nutrition environments, youths’ obesogenic behaviors (e.g., nutrition and physical activity behaviors), and weight outcomes; (2) understand how schools are implementing these policies and examine multi-level influences on adoption and implementation at various levels (e.g., federal, state, school district, and school); and (3) understand the synergistic or counteractive effect of school nutrition and physical activity polices on the home and community environment and body weight. This funding announcement has R01, R21, and R03 grant opportunities.
  • The NCI, NHLBI, NIDDK, NICHD, OBSSR, and CDD have released a funding opportunity titled Obesity Policy Research: Evaluation and Measures.  The grants can evaluate natural experiments or develop and/or validate community-level measures. This funding announcement has R01, R21, and R03 grant opportunities.
  • The William T. Grant Foundation has a number of research grant opportunities available, including investigator-initiated research and other Call for Proposals, related to active living, physical activity, and obesity research.  To learn more about these opportunities, visit the William T.   • The NCI, NHLBI, NIA, NICHD, NIDDK, NINR, and ODS have released a funding opportunity to enhance the quality of measurements of dietary intake and physical activity.  The R01 grant program is titled Improving Diet and Physical Activity Assessment.
