A state-wide policy that took effect in North Carolina in August 2010 mandated that childcare settings increase daily levels of children’s physical activity. This important decision was informed by a Harvard study that assessed the impact of a new regulation requiring a minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity for children in Massachusetts licensed childcare centers.
