Texas Obesity Research Center 2012 Conference

The Texas Obesity Research Center (TORC) will host its biennial conference, “Time for a Transcultural, Transdisciplinary, Transformational Approach to End Obesity” November 5-6, 2012, in the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion in the MD Anderson Library at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. The TORC conference will be presented together with a meeting of the Multinational Collaboration to Increase Physical Activity in Hispanics (1R13CA162816), which includes investigators from Canada, Mexico, and the USA. All conference sessions will be in English.

The Texas Obesity Research Center (TORC) promotes interdisciplinary research, education and training, and fosters local community collaborations to develop state-of-the-art obesity prevention and control methodologies via cross sectional and longitudinal research investigating psychosocial, environmental and biologic determinants of obesity and its consequences. The TORC conference will serve as a platform for exchange of obesity research from cell biology, energy regulation and clinical management to epidemiology, public health, and built environmental policy.

The Call for Abstracts is open until August 6, 2012.
